How to deal with authoritys

I can completly understand your desire to remain anonymous. We are granted the right to maintain our privacy. Unfortunatly, numerous authoritys are trying to gather information. Who can gurantee, that they don’t abuse their power? Who can gurantee, that, the police for instance misuses your private information? Let’s say you are against the war in Iraq and you decide to participate in some kind of demo against the Bush legislation. Now it happens that the police handcuffs you and puts you up in jail. You don’t know why, alls you know is that they try to squeeze some information out of you. They tell you, that they won’t release you until they know what they want to know. But all YOU know is your rights! Tell them only what you have to tell them. You know, you have the right to contact your lawyer….! Don’t “work” with authoritys. You are the only “authority” that matters. You don’t want to give them details about how you feel about the war in Iraq, and that you have just gathered with other activsts. You DO NOT want to get branded as a terrorist.

Well, that’s only one example. What I wanted to say is, that you have to be VERY careful when it comes to giving out information. We life in times where information is a very, very powerful tool. It doesn’t matter if you are aware of that fact…others certainly _are_ . And they’re taking advantage.

You might think that giving out tiny pieces of information won’t do any harm. But did you know, that large cooperations and propably the government too, are buying huge chunks of information about you from large data mining companys? And they’re putting together pieces of pieces..until they complete your “puzzle” . The more accurate a personal data profile, the more worth it is…
